HealthierUS School Challenge
Together with USDA, Alaska is supporting the HealthierUS Schools Challenge (HUSSC). HUSSC is a voluntary initiative established in 2004 to recognize schools and Residential Child Care Institutions that have created healthier school environments through promotion of nutrition and physical activity. The goals of HUSSC is to identify schools that have made changes to:
- Improve the quality of foods served,
- Provide students with nutrition educations, and
- Provide students with physical education and opportunities for physical activity
To provide information and support to interested schools, Alaska Child Nutrition Programs is holding monthly audio conferences on HUSSC. These sessions are recorded and will be posted on this website.
